Hi all,
From your experience are most/all caravan parks inflexible with their arrival dates over Christmas? Ie Boxing Day is a Sunday this year, so they would only book Sunday to Sunday?
I can understand why they do this, but personally we don't like going away on Boxing Day as we need a day to recover from the busy lead up to Christmas lol!
So do we have any options, or do we just have to suck it up and go on Boxing Day? Going away the Sunday after Boxing Day is not an option with work restraints.
Thanks in advance
Libby

Depends where you want to go mate,
I reckon the parks out here in the central west would love to see you any day of the week.
Of course the Coastal ones will want to maximise their occupancy rates so you'll find it difficult to convince em.

they, sure as eggs, would have a minimum number of nights but never been told which days to stay before. I booked for
Easter and was a bit surprised it had gone to a 5 night minimum but there was no way I was leaving Thursday (straight from work) and getting there in the dark with 3 kids to put my tent up tired and cranky - not how I want to start my holiday....they suggested Thursday a couple of times but I just said no go and they were happy enough to see us Friday, we'll come
home Wednesday in time for me to be back at work Thursday - its a tough life when you work one day a week!

Hi Libby
We go to
Nambucca Heads each Christmas - been their for last 4 years. As they see us as a permanent booking they are more than happy to let us come in when we want to. I have 3 other brothers and their families going and 2 of us are going on Boxing Day and other 2 the day after. We just say we are staying X number of days (about 2 weeks or 1 day plus/minus that) and that seems to be ok with them.
I was talking to a traveller their last Xmas who had a 14 day booking with them for a couple months. About a month from their holiday they got a call from the park to say they lost one day as they could not fit them in anymore. They pushed harder to hear them say a 'permanent' that was on site after them wanted to stay an extra day and as he was permanent booking each year they ruled in his favour rather than someone who may never be back.
So that brings up an interesting thought. What if you said when booking that you were looking for a new holiday park for a permanent Xmas booking fro one year to the next. Would that give you more ammo to get what you wanted? Then when you leave if you dont want to come back you dont. Its up to you. Just be aware that before you leave the park at the end of your hols you should rebook for next year if you want it. Thats how the 'permanents' do it.
In our case we book before we leave, pay nothing until they ask for a deposit a few months later, pay another amount a few months later again and have up until September to decide i we want the booking or not. No penalty if we pull out then, money paid is refunded and they have to find someone else.
Also
check out the van park member sites. I am also a Big 4 member which gives me $30 off my fees at xmas. Their are other memberships available like Top Tourist etc, just depends where you want to go. We just found all Big 4 parks around the country were excellent when compared to others we have stayed in.
Spend some time finding the areas you want to go to and then
check out their web sites and fiinally jump on the phone. Good luck with it, Mick
PS - how did those annexe starters work out for you? Did they get you out of trouble with your van? I had no luck with your lottery tickets, but thank you anyway for those - cheers Mick
