If anyone is planning to stay at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds on their trip up north, think again.
A secretly imposed council ban on camping in the Murwillumbah Showgrounds has shocked the showground trust, town businesspeople, campers & even Tweed Mayor states the Tweed Daily News on 23rd March2010.
Senior council staff are understood to have written to the M'bah Showground Trust banning overnight camping not associated with events at the showground such as annual shows & dressage competitions.

Cheers.

Was it free? If not then there goes a lot of tourist dollars as most people would not stop at a place where they can't camp.

One thing you need to take into consideration is not all the people that use these facilities are travellers like ourselves.Well setup and don't stay too long.

What I would suggest has driven this is the abuse of the free camoing by those that use at a place to live, usually out the back of a bongo van with sarongs as curtains. The area is a haven for hippies and back packers that soverstay their welcome.

I guess if it was policed better it wouldn't happen. But most showground trusts don't have the power or resources to move them without rules to how long they can stay.
