I have purchased a bar & plate intercooler, for the mighty Patrol..

Overall width 700.(tapers to 520)..... height 350... width 75
Now All I have to do is fit it..

I have boolted in a 90*10mm flat bar between the chassis rails, in the spare bolt holes just in front of the radiator..

Problem ..........
Thermo fan is in the way, along with several other things
Will my truck overheat if I take out the air conditioner thermo fan ?

or

Is theat only needed in slow going ?

Me thinks me has opened up a can of worms here..

Cheers
Bucky

Bucky,

If I were you I'd stop wasting valuable time on a forum or the internet trying to find a solution or answers and contact someone that fits or supplies aftermarket intercoolers to Patrols. By that I mean a professional someone.

Wizzard 1, Bucky asked a legitimate question, You never actually contribute anything except criticism of others in all your posts. Why don't you run along somewhere else and play? Michael

Wizzard1

I like to do things myself, and am interested in all things machanical, when I get stuck I go ask for advice.

I do not have to justify myself, to the likes of you so go see a taxidermist..!

Cheers for the back up Michael, but I am very capable of looking after myself.

I have the Saffari Intercooler mounted in front of the radiator/condensor. Fits in fine, so a check with them may help.

Hi Bucky,

You might find the thermo fan serves two purposes, ie to assist air flow through the radiaitor, and primarily as an over pressure fan for the air conditioner, I would check before I removed it, or even disrupt air flow through that area too much.

Qualification, I'm no expert, just an old mechanic, you may find more specific advice on the Nissan/Patrol site/s.

Good luck.

Rgds,

Rob.

Hi Bucky. Your thermo fan is definately required when the air conditioner is running as it directly cools the Air Conditioning condensor when the compressor is operating. Best to leave it where it is. Bob.

The ac condenser fan is needed to keep the head pressure down within the ac system so you cant remove it. If you do get it to fit make sure that it is mounted on rubber mounts as any chassis flex will crack and fatiuge the inter cooler

You will probably get a better response if you post the question on the Patrol Forum
