A few weeks ago there was a thread regarding the merits of digital ampmeters.
I should have mentioned that I have a Digital True RMS AC/DC clamp meter that has an additional analogue readout – Brought it from Jaycar for about $150

The analogue part is good for fluctuating currents or voltages i gues you bought the best of both worlds. Cheers Daryl

"Analogue readout" ?
Not quite true I'm afraid despite how Jaycar and others describe them.
It is merely a segmental bar display derived from the digitised measurement and still confused by irregular waveform input. Although it may be easier to view an approximate value than the rapidly changing numeric display.
But it is not an "Analogue Meter" in the electrical sense even though it displays an analogue of the measurement. Not the "best of both worlds".

Yep Allan it’s an RMS digital meter with a handy analogue approximation.
We are not sending rockets to the moon - at $150 it’s not bad for automotive work.
