There is an iPhone app called Bit Map developed by a Tasmanian that allows you to export maps from OziExplorer for use on the iPhone.

Bit Map uses JPEG TIFF PNG and GIFF.

With a map loaded in Ozi you can export it as a .bmp file which can then be converted to one of the above formats (under File go down to Save Map to Image File). I converted the resulting .bmp file to JPEG with Photoshop.

Its quite a process, and apparently they are trying to simplify it. But for keen navigators with iPhones, the instructions are here.

Bob

So the Iphone uses GPS does it?

It may not work out in the desert or similar. If it does not why worry about using OziExplorer?

Gps works everywhere you have line of sight to the satellites. The desert is the perfect place for gps to work well as there are few trees, and no buildings.
The iphone's gps is not particularly strong but works ok most of the time.

Good to hear there is some work being done to do oziexplorer type stuff on the phone.

Why would an Iphone GPS not work in the desert..? Off course it works, fortunately there are many apps for the Iphone including Motion X GPS which is a great off road suitable GPS app. I think Oziexplorer need to realise the Iphone is the way to go and port the app over asap.
