Hi all, just been released from hospital after 4 days of torture. The cause; a white tail spider - which gave me cellulitis of my right leg ( very painful ).

Just lucky it didnt bite my 1 year old.

Im now at home, still receiving IV antibiotics.

Please be careful as summer is fast approaching. This little spider, in one bite, caused more pain than a mother in laws visit.

Johnad,
Not knowingly had one myself , however, brother in law got one and it was nasty. Not being a medico, you need to be careful about the wound ulcerating. Honey proved effective in his case.

The Australian Venom Research Unit is one source with additional info. (The site has changed and my addy no loger works - try a google search)

Another contact is a guy by the name of Rex Gilroy at http://www.internetezy.com.au/~mj129/Mysterious_Australia_Homepage.html. He actually used to sponsor a Lions project on this subject.

Regards
