Michael,
Most guys on here http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/ seem to think they don't suit the heaver cars like Patrols or Cruisers.
Cheers Dave...

I had some Rancho 5000 shocks on my GU Patrol back in 2001 , did the CSR south to north, they got hot enough at times to melt the red rubber boots (running down the side ) but the shocks still worked good. I would buy again.

Many years ago I used to sell them.

I would not use them.

No 2 son ignored me.

He now agrees with me.

Ian.

Hi Michael. I had the version that was out about 5 years ago fitted to a 100 series. I found the bump stroke did not match the rebound adjustment very well which made the vehicle ride a bit strange. Hard to describe but it seemed to be soft up and hard down. I believe they have been improved since then but I was once bitten as they were fairly expensive. Regards,Bob.

Michael,
I had RS9000 (adjustable ones) on our 80 series for 120000 kms. The rear ones were peppered by stones almost beyond description but still worked to the end. I have fitted another set. Very good gear.

Rancho are best suited to leaf springs, which absorb some of the compression unlike a coil. Its hard to beat OME....2 year warrenty, come in all sorts of valving to suit what you do, and more importantly, are longer stroke than the std aftermarket by up to 40mm...i would buy a pair of OME N42L shocks, they are made by Monroe in 0z, sold by ARB aswell as most other places and therefore are stocked all over the country.

sorry, N74e is the std heavy duty rear shock, n74L is thesame shock but a little longer to suit an 863L spring(but will also do n a std spring

I had them on my Patrol and thought they were great until a mate told me my ride was really rough in the back....I never knew this because I was never in the back. Went and swapped over to Koni and the Patrol was like a brand new luxury car :)
