Strezlecki Re-think

Hi, we're meant to be heading down the Strezlecki (leaving Sunday) obviously this is out due to flood damage. So we are going Toompine, Thargo, Noccundra, Tibooburra, Broken Hill and across to Adelaide. Can anyone suggest some good spots to stop/camp along the way. Does anyone know the road conditions (i know they're open but in what condition), alot of the condition reports are over 2 weeks old. Also does anyone know if Merty Merty to Camerons Cnr is open?

When you click on forum at the top you will see the word ROAD, click on that and you will get as good as up to date info on road conditions.
In relation to camping purchase the Camps 5 book and you will get all the free camp sites on your proposed trip.
Have a good one.
Cheers

Some roads NW NSW (around Tibooburra, Broken Hill) may still have restrictions on them. Check this link for up to date info LINK

I am up on an oil rig about 6km from Noccundra. I was talking to Dave? the manager of Mery Merty just yesterday. The road from Camerons Cnr to Merty Merty has been cut by floodwaters about 10km short of Merty Merty. The only way to Merty Merty is by boat today. The road from Camerons corner to towards Merty Merty is in a very bad state. The road from Tibooburra through to Noccundra is OK as is the road to Camerons corner. I have been up here for over 26 years and have never seen it so green. Make sure you have plenty of insect repellent and watch out for snakes. We are seeing at least one a day around here.

Thanks for the update, we were hoping this would be open but know we are following the flood waters down, it will be amazing to see it all. We spent alot of the drought years at Quilpie as it is my husbands home town, so to finally see it green will be fantastic. So Tibooburra to Broken Hill to Adelaide it is, guess we'll have to do the Strezlecki another year. Enjoy the green!
