Hi guys,
How much oil do you put in the NP205 transfer case. Is 2lt enough? I understand that it is usually only an inch or so or about 1lt.
I know that the selector shafts leak like sieves has anyone got different seals on theirs to prevent this.
Mine is flipped so the selectors are near the bottom and I would like to have the oil level just at the bottom of the seals so they don't leak.
Cheers
Dave

hi tour boy
dont know about the oil levelon an oka but t/cases usually only have around 1-2 lts on any vehicle as it splash feed
is there a breather on the transfer case housing if yes
it might be blocked causing pressure to build and force the oil through the seals be worth checking
some one on here will no doubt know just a thought
cheers

Thanks, that's why I put 2 litres in to be safe. It is mounted upside down in the vehicle (you can do that with the np205) but the activation shafts are then at the bottom not right up the top and I don't think the seals were designed to be actually in the oil thus they can leak or at best weep.
We have moved the breather to the top as it was in the bottom when turned upside down, so pressure isn't a problem.
Cheers

Ours is the right way up and it has only a couple of litres in it.
Never had a leak at the selectors.
Note that the recommended oil is whatever you use in the engine.

Peter,
Mine will only leak because it is mounted upside down. I noticed in the pics you sent a couple of months ago that yours leak even right up the top.

Just wondering if anyone knew of a better seal to prevent this or if I should treat it as a rust preventative measure (think landrover)
Cheers
