Has anyone used the
camp sites in question? I read somewhere that
the entrance to the
campsite at Bendeela was steep and I was wondering whether or not it would be a problem for my bus?
I'm pretty game in terms of where I'll drive it, I just don't want to get stuck.

Hi Rossco,
I went down to Kangaroo Valley a couple of weeks ago & we kayaked down the river & finished at Bundeela. The road in was a little steep, but I wouldn't think it would be an issue getting in there?
Heaps of space, might be a bit boggy with all the rain we are getting? If it's hot - there is limited shade down there as
well.
Enjoy :)

Hi Rossco 09
you never said which way you were getting into the valley but either way its a steep steady climb, public buses and school buses have no trouble so i can't see any problems for you. To get into Bendeela
camp site there is a very sharp left hand turn that might give you a bit of a problem ,if so you can go a little bit further down the road and do a u turn at the pumping station and come back in. I don,t think there is a
camp site out at the
dam also
check that the
dam is open as last march it was closed while they were building a fish ladder, if its closed its not worth the drive out there, also might be a tight turn it get back out.

Whatever you do, don't continue along to the end of the road at Jacks Corner.
There is a
campground there for pup tents on an angle used by schoolkids on excursion( and looking peed off).
I followed a Disco along there towing a canoe trailer thinking that he must know what he is doing.
Turned out he had never been there before either and needed a dozen or so kids to lift the trailer around the trees.
I was able to back and fill with my
Camp'o' matic on, and juuuust got around the trees, over some rocks about 30CM high.

Rossco!! I was there only yesterday. It is a little steep but most buses have a fairly low first gear. Its a great place for big groups, i was actually thinking it would be a great place for an Exploroz get together for a normal weekend.. Plenty of green grass and space and kayak hire. You can
camp anywhere there so you will always find a spot to
camp. I think you would be ok.. Why not go for a drive there without the bus and
check it out.. regards Michael

You should have looked around at EO stickers Michael. You would have seen the
Kimberley Karavan Owners Group there and three with stickers out of the nine there. We left just before mid-day and saw a GU heading out at one stage with the EO sticker. I didn't see it later on Sunday. There are EO stickers front and rear on our 100 Series.
The other Karavans there with stickers were those of Michael P, and Pete S, members of course. Garth J was there too, but with his new 200, doesn't have a sticker or the tow gear yet, so his Karavan was at
home.
Up Tawonga Ridge in Victoria tonight so excellent Next G coverage.

Hi
John, We drove in about 3.30pm, we were driving past coming back from Nowra. We only had a drive around and back out again. We have an old round EO sticker on the back door window. Our Patrol is not very distintive, other than it has an aerial mounted from the middle of the spare wheel. We did notice a heap of the same type of Winebago style campers, we assumed they were all together. Therer was a fairly big crowd considering it was a normal weekend. Regards Michael

Thanks heaps everybody. Yes I will be coming in from Mittagong side, and was hoping I'd be able to turn around in the pumping station car park. This will be our first proper trip in the bus and hope our decision to buy a bus instead of a car/caravan combo was the right one for us.
Cheers.

I agree with everything said about Bendeela. THe only thing I'd add is that it gets really busy on long weekends (to the point of it being difficult to enjoy if you like a half decent night's sleep). We went there a few months ago - it wasn't even a long weekend and the
campsite was full, really noisy with loads of drunk teenagers and car hoons. Maybe i'm just used to bush campsites, but I wouldn't be hurrying back there - beautiful spot though!
Before planning to go to
Tallowa Dam you may wish to call the
ranger - we were told that the
campsite is closed to the public now, which may explain the extra crowds at Bendeela.
