My exhaust tempt gauge gave a reading of 30c when the key was turned. The car has not been started for 7 days. Is this just the ambient temp? ( it was approx that in Townsville today).

I know nothing about this but my first thought was I bet his son/daughter took it for a spin! Had that happen to me when my eldest decided to use my car while I was at work - thought it odd that the car looked to be parked differently and the engine was warm. I started taking my keys with me to stop that sort of thing.

Kind regards

The EGT gauge is no different to a normal temp gauge so I guess you've answered your own question.

Unless there is another heat source.

If your truck has not been used for some time any gauge that is fairly calibrated and its minimum calibrations are less than the ambient temperature should indicate near the ambient temperature. The reading may not be exact or repeatable if there is not a good free airflow like under your bonnet.
