We have been using those tyres for a couple of years now, including 2 big trips, so they have probably got about 40,000 kms on them. They have worn very well, and the only issue has been one slow leak when we picked up a 4 inch nail. Still have plenty of tread on them.

On our venerable Troopy noise is not an issue! They have not seen much mud but have done a lot of work on gravel and sand, at reduced pressures and have performed very well.

We now regard tyres as pretty much disposable items. Expensive tyres seem to get staked as much as cheaper brands. So for us the Maxxis Bighorns give quite acceptable performance for a good price.

Cheers,
J and V

Hi John & Val
Thanks for your reply,, yer i don't think any tyres are puncher proof ,,, especially from 4 'nails ,,,
We are doing our first trip to the tip of Cape York in july, so
it will be a good test,, I reckon ,, with cearfull driving ,, & driving to road conditions , we will get there & back ok,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Flatty

Member Flatty, We used same tyres on our Landcruiser up to the Top End and down West Australia Inland and up Red Centre, about 50% Gravel Roads, 22,000 kms. Never had a puncture. Dealer said may get more road noise as they wear but at this stage plenty of tread and no road noise. Would recommend.
