It's a Netbook, laptops are more expensive and are of better quality.

'and are of better quality' what a load of rubbish. MSI Wind U100 has all top quality componentry in Synaptics touch pad, Intel chipset, Realtek networking, Intel wireless, Hitachi HDD, Mitsubishi memory. The U100 from start to finish is well made top quality bit of equipment like many of the other 10" and 12" units looked at.

Paul, u160 now on ebay with win7 for about $600 to Oz. Good reviews – key pad said to be a bit cramped compared to Toshiba/Samsung netbooks, how do you find that? What’s the webcam like – is it built in to screen? Cheers

Paul, you don't have to get so defensive!

As a rule of thumb Netbooks are lower quality and has less processing power then Laptops.

So using you thinking...why would I want to pay $600 for the MSI Wind U100 when I can get a Asus eee PC for under 2/3 the price.

Doesn't the MSI seems over priced?

And this post WAS NOT about the MSI Wind U100.

My statement is correct, a Laptop in general will be built better and out performer a Netbook.

Netbooks are SLOW for anything else then surfing the net and running some mapping programs.

If Netbooks and Laptops were cars the Netbook would be a Hyundai Excel and the Laptop a Subaru Liberty....sure both are car but that's where the similarities stop.

People have to understand there is a BIG difference between Netbooks and Laptops.

People think all thing are created equally, this goes for Netbooks, is a MSI Wind 100 better then a Asus eee PC...YES, much the same as you can get Laptops for under $600 are they as good as a $999 Laptop NO.

Sit down and smell the roses and smile for once!

And another thing, Just because something uses brand name components doesn't mean is is good quality.

In our main desktop PC"s we use a quality name a RAM that costs $95 per GIG, this company also makes RAM for $35 per GIG.

We use hard drives that cost $299 for 500 GIG, again the company also produces 1TB for $150.

Most company's will produce low end components along with there high end stuff, jjust because it a brand name doesn't mean it the best.

jdwynn the U100 does not have a separate keypad. The webcam is great and is positioned at the top of the screen in the middle. I have not seen the U160. I have purchased a U200 and love it. I bought it to replace my aging 15" Toshiba. I wanted another laptop with the same size power plug and 19V so I could swap between the two. I wanted something bigger than the U100, but not as large as a 15". Looked at all brands and price was not an issue. The MSI Wind U200 with HD LED screen and great keyboard in the end made the choice fairly easy. Comes with a good case with a pocket large enough to put in a USB DVD/CD writer. Quality of the MSI Wind series is great. Not fussed on the MSI X series. Little cheap in construction and woeful keyboard.
Make sure whatever you buy it does not have Windows Starter as it is next to useless and costs $89 to upgrade. Windows Starter is a con as the laptop price needs to increase by the $89 to make it usefull

olcoolone thankfully we will never cross paths and never darken your doorstep.
Perhaps you need to look up some pricing and studying information prior committing fingers to typing.

They go a lot better when you stick 2Mb memory in. Video is shared and leaves little space for program memory. Have MSI Wind U100 and use it all the time. Much more convenient when travelling.
