Hi
I own a hilux extra cab 3ltr diesel hilux ,fitted with
dts turbo
My question is it worth spending the extra money
for a snorkel and bigger exaust ,i have done 20000th k
since fitting the turbo ,with 1 cape york and 1 trip to
king ash bay returning via the gulf road in mid april
The turbo has not caused any problems just looking
for a little better fuel consumption and alittle extra
power as i intend to buy a off road camper trailer

Yes to both. Snorkel for insurance and a decent exhaust, 2.5 inch minimum for power. Exhaust should have a small straight through muffler. You turbo is doing most of the muffling now. Expect 10% gain in power with the exhaust fitted.

Goodsy is correct as I have just recently done the same on my troopy 1hz.

DTS will tell you as they told me, that there is no point in fitting an exhaust diameter bigger than the turbo outlet as long as it remains that diameter for the whole of the exhaust length. i.e. you have use mandrel bends or your wasting you money.

And that straight through muffler is a must.

Results: Mine now has bugger all turbo lag, slightly more power and no difference one way or the other in fuel consumption.

If you are in Melbourne then Lillydale Exhaust and mufflers are the ones to have a chat to as they did a heap of R&D on safari turbos.
