Some time ago I came across a nice little caravan camping spot between Renmark and Berri, SA.
It was on the Murray River right at the ferry crossing across to Lyrup after you leave the Bookpurnong Road from either Berri or Renmark.
A toilet is not right at the spot but a little way up the dirt road this camp is on.
I have Camps 4 and I am trying to match up the position and to determine if a permit is actually needed to overnight there.
I am hopeful of giving friends some GPS co-ordinates so we can meet up there.
Can anyone help with a "place" description in terms of Camps booklets and perhaps even GPS data.
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers.

Hi Peter

We stopped overnight on the Murray in the Lyrup Flats NP - but it was well away from the ferry landing. Turn off was not far out of Berri. There were toilets, but not near where we camped. Honesty box national parks camping fees applied. We had the place all to ourselves. Very nice.

Thanks Motherhen but the spot I want is really close to where the ferry crosses. I am sure I can find it but identifying it and getting correct GPS co-ordinates will be helpful to advising my friends.

Yours MAY be Tea Tree Campground, Murray River National Park in Camps 5 #149 "Entrance next to ferry crossing. 500 m dirt road.Bush camping beside river. Does that sound like it?

Mine appears to be Black Box Campground, Murray River National Park in Camps 5 #148.

Both are in the national park, and payment required (i recall we paid $5).

There seemed to be an interlinking track, with various tracks off it towards the river.

Thanks all for your help.
Whilst I cannot specifically match up the Google vs Camps 4 co-ordinates the Google visual tells me the spot is just down the dirt track from the corner of Lyrup Rd and Old Lyrup Rd (dirt track).
I reckon I can also see the long drop toilet which is a little way away from the spot.
By Camps 4 it seems it may be Black Box or Colligans camp ground and I can remember a couple of spots being reasonably close together with the long drop toilet across the other side of the road and between the 2 spots.
(Just cannot match up the co-ordinates).

The information has been most helpful and thanks for the heads up on Google map.
Cheers.
