Hello all,
Arrived home yesterday from our trip to the red centre via the Plenty Hwy. Had a great trip, although did have some vehicle problems that meant some plans were changed. Saw a lot and did a lot and met a lot of people. Caught up with Gunter and Mary and family in
Alice Springs. They are fellow ExplorOz addicts. Glad to be home though and the vehicle is in for repairs and a service on Monday.
Great to be back online.

Hi DODO,
Why the name change?
It really was a great trip. The Plenty Hwy gave me some grief (1 puncture, Pocket PC holder snapped, bottom rubber on shocker disintegrated, stabiliser arm bracket sheared off, magnets for cruise control fell off). It was very rough on the NT side with plenty of corrugations and bull dust holes. Only cost me $25 to get the tyre repaired at
Jervois Station so I was happy with that, and $30 to get the stabiliser arm bracket re-welded in Alice. I am still working on the website, and hopefully I can finish that this week including photos, so I will let you know when it is done.
Hard to keep up with the 164 emails and over 600 new questions raised on this
forum, it will take me months to get up to date.
Speak to you soon

Hi BJ,
Where do you get the RAM mounts from? I will be attempting to get my holder replaced by the importer, so we shall see. I would however be interested in an alloy mount. What is the price like?

Hi Slammin,
It was an interesting journey. The Plenty Hwy was definately in need of some grading. Had one puncture, stabilizer arm issues, shocker issues and a couple of other minor issues, but all in all I enjoyed the challenge, and enjoyed reaching the bitumen at Gemtree. The NT side is definately worse than the QLD side at this stage. I believe that a lot of road trains had been through the week before we travelled the Hwy and they had cut it up a fair bit, but that is all part of the fun.
I only saw one grader doing some minor road repairs near the
termite mound, but that was all.
