If you get the Rooftop's 'Corryong -
Omeo - Thredbo Adventure Map' it shows the source near the
DC3 wreck mentioned in another message here. There is a border cairn on
Forest Hill. Approx position 36.800S 148.206E.
The map states "Start of
Murray River at confluence of two small gullies in small bog."
The map also shows "The Poplars
Camping Area (highest public vehicle access to the
Murray River)"
I believe that it is quite a trek to the source as vehicle access is now prohibited.

Go to
places in EO and search for '
Forest Hill Cairn' (1 r in Forest). There are pics and more info.

Gday - i did this 2 easters ago - camped at
native dog flat with the family and got dropped off at the
locked gate on the track - we took mountain bikes with us so we could easily do it in a day. basically it starts at a cairn where on you map the man made straight line stops.
took about 3 hous in and 2.5 back
used hema high country map
note maps are slightly inaccurate in this area ?
