Went to Nowra on the weekend and turned to old GPS on to see how it would go ont he new road. Darned thing after a while was off with the birds on a blank screen. We saw it appreach the map border but instead of the "next" map being displayed it just kept us on a pure white screen.

When we stopped at our destination I saved the track and checked for the "next" map. Yes it was there in the same folder as the other map as well. I displayed the saved track on that map and allwas well.

???????? I looked high and low for the control/config that said to move to the next map and make sure it was selected or enabled etc

Note that I am talking about OziCE for the in-car Windows CE based GPS's.

Help anyone???

Also how can I change the attributes of a track (colour thickness etc)?

A couple of things....

Are you maps indexed? If not Ozi doesn't know what they cover.
File Configuration General Settings Other Auto Index Maps

Is you map folder set? (This is where ozice will look for new maps)
File Configuration Map & Data Files

Regarding track attributes I think they need to be edited in the Windows version of the software.

To all

1. Auto index - Ticked But I think it was ticked before. Wish I could remember.

2. I put the cursor at the boundary of the map and it "finds" both in "Find maps at cursor". That should mean the map and data file paths are set correctly.

3. Track attributes. For a new track the Track attributes will change in the config menu. For a saved track I can change them in Word or dosedit but the pattern to set a specific colour is unknown at this stage. You also have to be careful not to let Windows think its a text file when you save the edited file. Thanks.

4. SW version. I will update as soon as I find out which version (VMS compatibility etc) I need to download. We have the AVNC 3000 Mk2.

5. Auto index is ticked (was before) so all maps should be "known".

Thanks for the help I now need to test it on the road. Pity the CE version does not have the simulator!!!

Hi Phil

Have you updated to the latest version 2.32? if not do so 1st

Then check the file path, go file/configuration/map& data files/ select sd card maps check the box.

you have 6 selection
then i check sd card maps ,
and sd card maps/Australia 250k,
and sd card maps 25k
and any others that may be relevant for the area your in.

note i am running the hema map pack.

But i think the latest version will search the sd card or storage memory you select any way for the closest map.

For tracks go file/configuration/tracks/tail.

Hope this helps .

Hopefully the Explorer will chime in he is the expert.

Rob

Hi Phil
Try this,

To change the properties of the tracks, click on the 'Navigation' control
under the 'Configuration' menu.

You should be able to get the "next" map to load by clicking on the
'Detailed Map' option button, which is on the 'Main Tool Bar'

Thanks

What I have achieved so far. And this is on the PC in the house.

I have been able to change the track line by editing the plt file's 5th line of text. The second number is the track width and the third number is a Boolean version of the colour.

I think I had better print out the thread and try what people have suggested in the car on the CE version. I will also see what version I have. We only received it a few months back so it should be close to the latest (hah).

But after dinner. Management is laid up so I have to do it. Pork fillet and apple sauce tonight. Its horrible when I have the choice.

Than so far guys.
