Well, Teena and I decided to go to my sisters place, at Caloundra, we rock up around 3pm Queensland time, My sister then informs us "They are going camping", our thought was great we didn't bring anything!Load the trailer with everything they had.

So 4am wake up call, sleeps overated, hook up trailer, head off to the ferry, through first cutting and out on the beach. Pouring down rain and blowing a gale.

Was so much fun!!!

There was so many people there it was not funny. We setup next to red canyon, yes that was us, the only spot, that was dryish, off the beach and in the camping zone. Just.

So was anyone else up that way???? and how was it for you????

Hi All

We go up there on a regular basis, never ever at Easter or Xmas, just far to many Campers, the last time we actually camped at Easter was 1998, we got up there 2 days before every one else and picked out a good grassy area for our tent and our sons family, they were arriving on Easter Saturday, I spread out some Blue Tarps to mark our spots, and other people still wanted to camp their, after I paid the Camp Fees, I never copped so much abuse as I did from people arriving up there late, as it was we didn't take up to much area, but it nearly turned into a battle zone lol.

Cheers

the few people i know who have camped there over Easter or Xmas have all said the same thing....NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!
i have camped there in non holiday times and it's great, but will never go there during a peak period, or in the weeks just afterwards either.

Its a real shame what has happened up there, every idiot has a 4x4 now.
we went up there a couple of months ago, wankers driving over the dunes, doing doughnuts and fish tails up and down the beach all day, campers with there doof doof music going till all hours.
I wish 4x4's hadn't evolved into the fast comfortable vehiclesthey are today.

I'm not so sure, It was a different breed that drove the hard riding, slow and noisy 4x4's with aerodynamics like a brick and fish tank glass for a windscreen, just so they could get to places like DI on their days off.

i'm 35 and i ride an 82 hilux, so does that come under your description of above.

All i can say is that we were very far away from our neighbours and we didn't hear that much noise.

we enjoyed ourselves besides the rain, we managed to get our tent up, then the rain hit and we managed to get our tarp up so we had shelter. damn good fun.

I love camping

I live at Tewantin, we didn't go out for the whole four days, this area is just crazy during peak holiday times. Watched the news footage showing the Bruce highway car park in and out of Brisbane and thankful I'm not part of it.
