we are looking at second hand kk's and aussie swags at the moment. has anyone had any experience with the family rooms/kids room that comes with either of these? Wondering what the dimensions are and the ease of set up

We had an Aussieswag. Loved it.
The Kids room on ours went along the off side (opposite side to the kitchen)
We had a bunk bed set which for the kids room we set up as two single beds end for end. The floor space in the Kids room was almost exactly the size of 4
camp stretcher beds set in a 2 + 2 pattern - or call it 4 camping mattresses with no further room for walking.
Ideal for 2 people but cramped with anymore.

HI,
We have had a couple of kk,s and love them. How old are your two children?
The annex on our 2005 is not as big as later models. suggest you log into
Kimberley Kampers web site .We actually last kk for more than we paid for it after some pretty gruelling trips. Good new is (touch wood we have had a dream run with them) Batteries are the omly problem we have had -hopefully thanks to great advise on this
forum I can put that to rest too. look around there are a lot of good copies of kk- not sure how good they are because I haven,t had the need to go elsewhere.

thanks for your follow up, our kids are 11 and 10, I didn't find the KK website very user friendly or useful. The pictures i have seen of the spare room look very small but can't seem to find the actual dimensions.

We have an Aussie Swag that is about 9 months old. We have a rear kids room that fits two single air mattresses side by side. We only have one child at the moment, so she sleeps in the kids room by herself (plenty of room), or if we are having a quick overnight stop she sleeps on the hard floor area of the camper.
We have had some difficulty at times finding sites long enough for the rear kids room. By the time the camper is opened up (out the back of the trailer) then the rear kids room added, it is a VERY long set up. If we can't find a spot long enough, then our daughter sleeps on the hard floor. If we had 2 kids, we would probably have a bunk-bed type of set-up. That way, if necessary they could still fit on the hard floor area.
We went for the rear kids room with our Aussie Swag, because it can be left on and fold up with the rest of the canvas. (Making setting up and packing up much quicker). Otherwise, I would probably have gone for a side kids room.
Cheers
Leanne
