Has anyone successfully replaced the shock cord in an aluminum slat table?
I'm having great difficulty trying to thread the shock cord through the slats.

Hi

SWMBO managed to do one of our tables. I think the trick was to use an appropriate needle to thread the new shock-cord though.

Try a hobby place like Spotlight. They not only sell all the types of shock cord, but suitable blunt bag needles for threading it thru.
Otherwise, try super-gluing some thin stiff wire to the end of the cord and thread it through the slats that way.

thanks for the suggestions
I'm having some success now

Using two 'eyeless needles'; one straight, one curved- made out of coat hanger wire. Joined the shock cord with a long tight spiral of sticky tape end on to the 'needle'.
The sticky tape is stong enough to be the link between the needle and the cord and with a gentle push - pull technique will carry the cord through the slat holes.
Every so often the tape breaks but it's an esay job to join the cord back to the needle with fresh tape.

-Using the curved needle for getting the cord through the end slats from the open ends and the straight one for straight through the other slats.

thanks again for the ideas - hopes this helps others rejuvenate their tables.
