Hi, can anyone recommend a good trailer manufacturer in Perth?

I'm after a well made, 7' or 8' x 5' single axle heavy duty box trailer that'll handle a bit of dirt to tow behind my trusty 100 series Cruiser.

I've looked at a couple of the big players in town and they are fairly crudely made (ie: rough as guts).

Even a deep sided 7' x 4' camper trailer without the tent part on top would probably do the job.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

John Papas, seem to make decent trailers.

Pretty sure they can do custom work, and also make theres more heavy duty.

I was considering them when i was looking into building my own camper trailer, but have since lost that idea till funds return.

Papas are big, just about every trailer you look at is from them. But all the ones I have seen are a little crude and very tinny. IE tie down rods along the side made from 8 or 10mm rod, every used trailer I see has these bent up wards in an arc as a piece of parcel string will distort them.

Not a criticism of them just made to a low price I guess. Everyone has to compete with China

Hi V,

Coastal Machinery in Bunbury have an imported range of trailers of many sizes & configurations and they MAY have an outlet in Perth. Even if not it may be worth you having a look as I know they send trailers interstate as they can land them there cheaper than they can be bought locally by interstatians.

Most of the Big Players as such seem to make down to a price. I know a few years ago I looked at John Papas and they were certainly roughly made and cheap.

Unfortunately well made will cost significantly more.

Acacia Prison strated last year making trailers and the ones I saw were well made, heavy and releatively cheap. I suppose mainly because their labour costs were minimal. I think if you ring ESS at the priosn they may be able to assist.

The smallet manuafcturers often make more to order and may also be be better than the large guys.

When I had my 8' x 5' Offroad box trailer made in NSW it cost a pretty penny.

It does have independant suspension and has the capability to hold 12 jerry cans externally and 2 x 4kg gas bottles.

Would I do it again.............................. YES it was the best $$ I have spent on a trailer, which is why even though I now own a Trak Shak camper, I am not parting with the box trailer as I know I will never get what is cost me to get it built if I sold it :)

Cheers Kev

Try Explorex in Wangara, they make heavy duty trailers for geologists and the like. They also do a nice line of caravans for mining and exploration companies.

Leader trailers in Bassendean, I have had work done on my work trailer there and he is very good, he also makes to order and very fussy in what he builds, he won't be the cheapest around but you will get what you want, the way you want it.

About 15 years ago,I had a trailer made by Rolliston Engineering in Wangara,on the street that runs behind the Wanneroo Markets. They used to make trailers for the Army,so are tough enough.Recommended, so hope they are still there.
