This is from westprint news letter. Interesting bait and cheap

Regarding the fly trap/bait topic: I am using a mix of one egg, a small tin of cat food (85 gram) and a half cup of water. Use cat food with the most seafood content e.g. Tuna and Snapper with Prawns. Better still if you eat prawns is to substitute six prawn heads for the cat food. It takes three or four days to start working depending on temperature and the blowflies up here commit suicide. I called the traps that I’ve made “Henderson Hummers” The mix lasts about a month and costs about a dollar per mix. Traps are easy to make from plastic fruit juice or soft drink bottles. Bruce

what i use in my fly traps is half a pilchard very cheap and effective. sometimes i use a whiting frame, or parts thereof if they are large.
