Dare I ask what sort of things go on at such an event? its so close it would be tempting to bring the boys down but is it a 'family' type event? and is it accessible with the old girl (aka the VP Commodore Wagon) as it's all we've got.
I don't know anyone and I'm not a member (as yet....$ you know) but thinking...ok hitting submit b4 I wimp out and it delete instead lol!

It is a Family event. Access to the Glen Patrick Reserve is achievable in a 2wd.

There is a toilet block with flushing toilets and a shelter shed. As well as plenty of room for the kids to run and play on the cricket oval.

There will be some day trips involving 4wds but I am sure other activities can be arranged for you to join in. It may be possible for you to hitch a ride with one of the attendee's as well.

thanks for that Kev will have to think about it. We have thus far only stayed in caravan parks but want to change that soonish. The kids love the jumping pillows and swimming pools but they also loved walking through the grampians - don't want them to grow up with a warped view of camping (that it is only done in caravan parks with loads of facilities).

As to hitching a ride that may be a tad difficult as I have 3 little boys - although by then the middle one will be 7 so only one will need a booster seat but hey they are boys and space to run is good and am sure we would manage.....just have to work up some courage to go camping with a group of people I've never met I guess...will think on it.

my monsters are 4, 6 & 8 (although by November they will be 5,7 & 9). My oldest has aspergers syndrome (which is a form of Autism) he is fairly high functioning but has VERY poor social skills and upsets to tears/tantys at times - looks bad when people who don't know/understand see a 8yr old throwing a wobbly like a 3yr old............but it doesn't happen too often these days. Dunno how old your little Wes is? but now that I've typed that I'm spinning out again that my baby is turning 5 this year and off to school next year!

My middle one is at the Joeys scouts first ever kangaree (jamboree for 6-7yr olds) out at Gembrook atm....hope the weather hasn't been too bad out that way and that he has had fun - off to pick him up from the bus in a couple of hours.

At the 1st Pyrenees gathering in 2007 my youngest was just 12 months old and it was my 1st attendance to a gathering. It was so good I drove 1500km + one way in 2008 to attend the 2nd one LOL

They are a great way to meet people with fellow interests and everyone has a wide skills to share (including kids wrangling)

Cheers Kev

ok my ex wants me to work out a calendar for who has the kids when for the rest of the year so I guess I stop umming and erring and being a bit of a wus and just book in hey? Mind you it might look funny that I do a backflip on the very weekend I was arguing with the ex over (I wanted to kid free that weekend - would have been out with the girls doing something for my bday).

so thanks guys for being so welcoming to a fraidy cat single mum - afterall I'm brave enough to be planning to buy a campervan and do the nullabour with the boys but meeting you lot was making me nervous ROFL! I guess you will see me and my monsters in November....

Hey Jude, I love your comment:

has VERY poor social skills and upsets to tears/tantys at times

Sounds like a perfect contender for EO member!

Seriously though, there are people who stay about on camp during the day while others go bush, and I am sure you will find that we are all normal people who like sitting around a campfire and telling yarns.

Hey Jude, (could I write a song starting that way?) just as a clarification on Muzbry's comment about kids in nappies to Little Wes' age. Little Wes prolly only wets his pants when he is really scared as he is about 35 and eligible. I have a brat his age who I think is going, and he has brats of his own.

Open to all ages and the kids may share trips around with their new mates......

hey Jude, The kids will be great especially with Sir Kev around the place. They will outshine him on the intellect levels. LOL Only problem that you will have is having to babysit 4 kids instead of three.

was hoping we might be able to scrounge and have a camper trailer by then but looks like we will still have the tent, and well Kev it seems like maybe you should - hell you have a few months to get organised.

Jude,

It isn't the fact I don't want to go, it is the fact that I have to get the time off work. It will take about 2 weeks for me to do the trip if I come down with all my lot from Queensland LOL
