Hi fellow travelers.
Im trying to chose a GPS to suite our needs.
We have looked at the garmins/magellans and so far like the garmin GPS v.
We will be travelling some trips on our own and enjoy bush walking.
Any feedback would be appreciated thanks.

I have a garmin, and it suits our needs fine.
I was at a show recently and drunk many beers with the Magellan sales rep. He said the quality between the two was minimal, but Magellan has updateable software, which you receive a firewire lead to download FREE new information off the net. I thought this was quite impressive. The new model has a colour screen.
The next one i get will be a Magellan, ill give it a run but wont be for a while!

Garmins are upgradeable too, just hook up the PC cable (supplied with my GPS76) and whambo! Course you could just take it to Johnny Appleseed, now in StKilda, risk your life and those guy's ll do it fer ya.

Thanks Mick!
We have some more homework to do i will look at the Magellan a bit more.
My only concern is that the colour screen would use up alot of batteries?

Cheers Kaos.

From the research I have done in the past, Magellan have a better inbuilt arial than Garmin which may be usefull when bushwalking amongst trees and rocks.
