Has anyone recently stayed at Mambray Creek for an overnight stay? We are looking for an overnight stay in May and are thinking of Mambray Creek. Is this suitable and was there any charge?

Thanks
JO

Mambray Creek is a roadside stop. Havent stayed there, but I would if I needed a stop. Nice area, close to highway, and busy railway, I dont think there are any facilities. You can go off the road to the Mt Remarkable National park, fees payable if the ranger comes around.

If you are talking about the National Park which is just off the main road then it a beautiful spot with lots of wildlife ie emu, kangaroos etc. We stayed there in January. It cost to stay but just he usual national park fees. It has hot showers and toilets. I am not sure of any other spot to stay at Mambray creek perhaps near the creek but I think it would have water in it. However, I think you would want to stay longer than overnight spot in order to have a look around. We stayed for one night only and wished we could stay longer which we intend to do in the future.

I agree Jim its a great spot. Great walk through hidden gorge and up to the ridge with great views over the Spencer Gulf. Stop over as people have said close to hwy and train line, if you stay on the western side (right side heading to Adelaide) you can pull off further from the hwy.

Went past there on Sunday. There was 1 van there. Not sure why anyone would want to stay there to be honest. Too close to the main thoroughfare for trucks and rail.

I'd be inclined to go a little bit further and stay at Spear Creek. Much quieter, greener and closer to the ranges.

My 5c worth.

If you want to head a little further north and love a great view then Hancocks Lookout is a good onight stop. Can get there off the Main North Rd if you come in from the Wilmington side or via Horrocks Pass from the Princes Hwy side
