You might be lucky to get one from a wreckers, maybe ?? $500/600 thats cheap for a nipondenso compressor new, or was this a second hand price, I would expect that price second hand, I wouldn't bother getting an after market brand, they wont do the job as good as a genuine one, as you are obviously thinking along those lines I presume. I paid around $800 2 years ago for a new Denso compressor fitted and gased with a filter.
And that was the best price i could get some quotes were $900/$1100.
It's not easy to find a good second hand unit.
You have to way up how long you want to keep the vehicle for, if you want to get a new Compressor?
I would not be with out air-conditioning money well spent for me!

I was quoted minimum of $800 yesterday. Dunno if thats genuine or not but i thought that was very reasonable.
