We just used this track to go from
Norseman to
Southern Hills Station and Mt
Malcolm - just off the Telegraph Track. The crossing across the causeway is passable with courage and some kind soul has dumped a load of sleepers there to help get across the 3m gap in the causeway that is a challenge and will stop ill prepared travellers.
The western end of the track, up to the second repeater station was travelled at a comfortable 60kmh. The
grader has stopped then and we slowed to more like 40 kmh. After the Fraser Range Road intersection, a new fire has gone through and despite the track being graded and in good condition, travel is slow due to numerous large trees across the track.
I understand the section close to Balladonia has been chained 100m wide to be used as a fire control line.

Some photos
Best to enter from
Norseman end, as if you get to this point on
Lake Dundas, it's a long journey back around and the Tourist Info people at
Norseman are not kept
well informed on the condition of the causeway. Extreme caution is needed after rain. Also the climb out of the lake heading west could be a bit challenging and the rocks are sharp. Easier to go down the
hill than up it.
