GPS Unit for Caravanners

Hi,
I've been searching for a GPS that I could set the size of Vehicle and Van.
I have a Travelhome 5th Wheeler and Chevvy Silverado, so it don't fit everywhere.
Searching the net I found the Pro Nav Truck GPS. Runs Win CE too.
Here is the link, download the user guide and check it out. No more terrifying 450 point turns to avoid bridge.

Michael,

If you end up getting one can you post a test report on the forum. I would love to know what you think and I am sure many others would as well.

Hi Carl
There are a stack of reviews on the net, heres one.
http://www.digitalreviews.net/reviews/navigation/pronavs-pnn-300-satnav-for-truckies-reviewed.html
Just google it worldwide and there will be stacks, ProNav says it is updating the Software and Aussie Maps in the 3rd quarter of 2010 and anybody buying one now will get that free.
I can't see anything else that has the 3 things I want.
1. WinCE software.
2. NavTeq maps the biggest gps map maker worldwide, forget Sensis/Telstra would you trust em.
3 I can configure/reconfigure any vehicle, axles, weight etc and it adjusts route accordingly.

Gawd I do go on a bit lol

Hi Doug, Thanks for replying. I checked the Garmin you mentioned but although you can put in any vehicle, the mapping software according to Garmin does not take this size into account when route planning. Heres the link to the only one Garmin says does it.

Hi,
Maybe I'm getting mixed up, but the ProNav allows you to set vehicle size, height, axle numbers and weights and then plots suitable routes for that vehicle, avoiding low and weight restricted bridges ,roads not strong enough to take all the weights etc.
Lots of other GPS receivers allow you to put in your vehicle description but they don't all take that vehicle or combination into acount when route planning

Oh ok now I know what you mean.... geez anyone would think your driving a Roadtrain...lol, with the Nuvi you can download a bridge hieght POI and it can be set to give a warning, I have one here in .gpx file, as for vehicle wieghts I'm picturing a medium sized motorhome but yeh, there are quite a lot of ex buses on the road too. So ok the one your already looking at should do what you want. don't forget to let us know the outcome,

Doug
