Minor repairs can be fixed with a sail needle and a bit of thread. I hand sewed a new three meter zip once. With the trailer tent up you can get your mate to stand on the other side pushing the needle back if needs be. A sailors palm can be bought from a marine supplier with the needle. A palm sits in your palm (where else?) and you push the needle with it.

You can even replicate the action of a machine by fitting a regular heavy duty needle to a handle (piece of junk wood) and when you push the needle through, use another needle and thread to go through the loop. Two people make it easier.

All those sails on the old ships were done thus and done at sea mostly.
