Does anyone know the difference in the maps and or content between these two versions. I have the 2008 edition and am wondering if the 2010 edition is worth it. Hema's website isn't much help unfortunately.

Hello
Haven’t done a comprehensive comparison but there appears to be a small number of new maps on the 2010 disc. Some of the maps previously on the 2008 disc have been changed at least in general appearance....but without cross checking all the annotations can’t say if the detail (e.g. phone numbers/facilities etc) has changed. May also be a few track updates but again haven’t cross checked any maps to see.
Some maps that were on the 2008 disc have been omitted from the 2010 disc e.g. Mid West WA. I presume (in this case at least) because these areas are now included, in slightly more detail, on the Western Australia Road and 4WD Atlas DVD.
Impossible to say if the new disc is worth it for you as I have no idea what maps or what information you would find useful and if it has been updated/included on the new disc. Suspect you would get by without the new one quiet happily but maybe not???
