Hi all...This is my first post post here, although I've been a lurker for quite some time...
The name is Shannon, I'm a 20 year old IT Professional, and I live on the South Coast of NSW (Shoalhaven Region).

Between myself and my partner, we have (and have had!) a few Daihatsus...Notably on the list though, are the FerozaII (F310 - WideTrack, Hardtop, 1.6L) Which is very much so bog stock, and my F75 Rocky T/Diesel.
Both acquired this year after deciding that we couldn't justify paying for depreciation just to have a late model car - and also sick of being passenger on 4wd trips, or not able to go places!

The Feroza gets driven every day by my partner, with the kids - so can't be too wild as far as suspension work goes in the name of safety. We will just do a body lift, and fit some 31's, and call it a day for the Feroza, perhaps a Boc-Loc in the front.

I, on the other hand - ride my bike to work, rain hail, or shine. I bought the Rocky as a toy. Perhaps down the track I may use it to tow my track car IF I can get suspension to a point where I am happy with it.
The weekend just gone gave me the chance to get the injectors out, and I've *just* been given a call to say that their FUBAR, so getting new nozzles, which will *fingers crossed* hopefully get rid of the engine knock and should (in theory) get rid of my rich running...

Once the engine is running happily, first order of the day will be to get some hilux axles under this puppy (Leaf Axle Front/Rear), giving me some aftermarket support for diffs, and more ground clearance, as I'll go SOA when I do it. A larger exhaust off the back of the turbo should free up a little power. 33's are the intended end result. I haven't thought too much beyond this - The intention is to just 'take it as it comes' with mods on the rocky, as its not needed daily anyway.

Finally, if I have failed to be correct in spelling please forgive me. The spell checker doesn't seem to like my internet connection here at work, although I usually find I'm pretty good in that regard anyway...

just a quick note, I got a letter in the mail from Daihatsu about a recall on the Feroza's and Rocky to do with fuel vapour entering the cab. Might pay you to check the aus gov recall website and see if your models are affected.

With my Feroza I put Ironman 2' lift under it and I found it OK although a little stiff for the 1st few weeks while it settled down. Think you would have had no issues getting 31's under with that. I also had a welded diff up front and although it made it go places it was a pig to drive with the hubs locked in off road. You definitely knew you had been offroading later in the day.

Hi Shannon,

Many years ago I had a fairly wild (from the drivers seat at least) 2.8 Rocky. 3" body lift, 2" susp lift and 31's but the 33's were well and truely being saved for when the missus dropped the good news of my first child's imminent arrival so the 2 door Rocky had to go in place of a 4 door (Jackaroo back then). I found I was banging my head against walls for answers on how to do things whenever I mentioned I wanted to modify the Rocky which was frustrating but that thing just about climbed trees standard. They do have a rep for "sharing" g/box and transfer fluid with a stuffed transfer the result so I would advise keeping an eye on fluid levels if you are servicing yourself and let your mechanic know to check if getting it serviced.

I would think long and hard before going down the BOC or CIG locker option. I welded up a rear pumpkin on another toy I had and I will never do that again. Good for it's purpose but stuffed the vehicle in every other way for me. Better to fit a winch and use it over the CIG locker if you ask me. The Rocky is a top heavy vehicle and with such a big lift (it will have to be big to run 33's) you will need a spare set of undies or two each time you go out playing even without the locker. Give it a fair go before comitting to the welded diff, you may be surprised at its ability standard.

Have fun and I look forward to further posts as you build this beast up.
Regards, Trevor.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
In regards to the Boc-Loc, will take heed of that - was more so going to do the front in my partners one (Feroza), and probably a few LSD or air locker centred for the hilux diffs in mine. Would definately not do (Boc-Loc) the rear in mine anyway, as I'd like to be able to tow with it eventually.

Have looked at winches, and partner has expressed that because I get the turbo diesel, she gets the winch - Which kind of does not make sense, as mine will be the more hardcore of the two, if I don't post on here ever again, obviously my justification on why I should get the winch wasn't good enough...

Got a call from a mechanic I worked with a few years ago this morning - Injectors have new nozzles on them...
So will be reinstalling this afternoon and seeing how the engine runs...

Will take heed of the warning RE: Boc-Loc though, and not jump into such decision lightly if thats the way I choose to go down the track...
Perhaps something to try if down the track we decide to get a parts Feroza (With some luck I will have the space to store it shortly!)

Hi All
I have a couple of Rocky's. This is an interesting thread because I have never heard of using Hilux axles and would like to know more. Also what does a "CIG Locker" mean.
Also would anyone know where I could locate the Fuel section of the manual for a 2.8. Diesel.
