I've just returned from a great week away up in the
Vic High Country and my new shiny blue synthetic Dyneema winch rope is now a grubby looking black brown colour.
I've read that these rope cables should be washed when dirty, but I'm just wondering how it should be washed? What should I use to wash it with? Are some detergents bad to use on this cable, should I just use hand soap, throw it in the washing machine or just hose it down??
All help greatly appreciated.

Just wash it down with plain water.... just use a garden hose (not high pressurse.... you dont want to force the dirt into the rope)..

I put
mine together with what was once a nice yellow extension strap in a 20l plastic bucket and let it soak in plain old water for a day or so giving it as slosh every now and again.
Then hose off, good as new.

Looks like a bucket and cold water is the way to go. Thanks for the help.

Been using Dyneema for the last five years and it gets washed in the following way
Step one rinse in large container with plenty of agitation to get rid of the lumpy stuff and most of the grit
Place in old pillow case then put in washing machine with NO detergent as this degrades the rope
Allow to dry in the shade as it is not UV stabilised
Same proces as for snatch straps and winch extenstions straps
