G'Day Doug
The whole lot would be nice...!!
But failing that engine control & oil pressure switch (not gauge sensor) should do it. My email is rob.605028(at)gmail.com

Many thanks
Cheers

No that's not the way to add an email address, you gotta use @ , not at.

Gday Rob,
No response so far - I don't know anyone who's done it. I liked the fact that my 79series had no immobiliser - one less thing to go wrong out bush.

But an old fashioned switch in line with the starter motor solenoid wire would be the simplest thing and wouldn't affect anything else.

I'd guess the other option if you want it to crank but not start is the fuel cut solenoid on the pump. But I don't know enough about it. Might get an answer from LCOOL if you don't get an answer here.

Cheers

G'Day Phil
Unfortunately living near the big smoke....theft prevention is a way of life...!!
The beauty of fitting something yourself ...is you can be sure you know how to bypass it if there is a problem. Also it makes it that much harder to find if your trying to pinch the vehicle...cos it aint "standard"..!!

I had thought of the fuel cut out - but am not sure if that will bother the EFI box. On the Troopy I had a switch on the oil pressure switch (not the gauge sender) it would run for 5-10 seconds then die...was connected to a 1/4 inch phono plug near the ignition switch - no plug...no go.

Cheers
Rob

Rob,
We don't know whether you've got the V8 or the 6 cyl TD, but I'm guessing its the V8.

If it were the pre 2007 6 cyl TD, I reckon your oil pressure switch cutout phono plug will still work. On the 6cyl wiring diagram, the oil pressure switch wire goes to something called the "oil pressure switch ECU" which I expect cuts the motor with zero oil pressure.

If its the 2007+ V8 then I don't know. I'm just wondering whether Doug knows what motor you've got?

for the amount they cost to get fitted I wouldnt muck around with it myself

all vehicles in WA have immobalisers by law after the local "disadvantaged youths" went overboard on car borrowing in the early 90s
(took mum and das commodore up the hills and burnt it)

the final straw was when one of them ran a light and took out a pregnant lady
now to get a vehicle regod it needs an immobaliser

G'Day Phil
I didnt realise the 79 came out with the V8..!!
Mine is the 6 Cylinder - any chance of a scan of that wiring Diagram..??

G'Day Get outmore
As i mentioned before I want to know where its connected and how its doing the isolating...so when things go pear shaped out bush I can be sure that the immobiliser isn't causing the problem. I guess I could buy one and fit it myself but then I would still need the wiring diagram eh...!!
