Canning Stock Route Feedback

I will be hitching the Canning in June - July. Starting point Billiluna. I am here already, helping the community build a web presence over the next 6 weeks or so. In this time, I will be learning a bit about desert survival and bush cooking. Today I learned to cook damper/bread in coals without a camp oven - bonus, because a camp oven is too heavy to carry. And it tasted GREAT. If you see a 6ft blonde female at a Well, and you have space enough in your vehicle to the next well, it would be great to get a day or two's lift with you and perhaps share a meal. The locals here at Billiluna have promised to share with me all manner of exciting bush tucker cook ups, including lizard and kangaroo. Hmm .. I have eaten ants already, but the balance of getting full on them and staying hungry is imperceptible, so I guess I am going to have to learn to catch the bigger creatures in those cook up recipes. BIG EYES!

Hi Gaynor. I must say, you're game walking the CSR. Just be careful crossing over sand dunes. Some cars come over quite fast and may not see you in time to stop. Good luck I'm sure you will have a good time. BTW check out some of my photos of a guy cycling the CSR Cheers

Should have seen the expressions when I did the easier Tanami Road last year. One time found myself looking into a video camera on a dashboard as a vehicle crawled towards me on the Wolfe Creek section which had bad corrugations. The family's jaws dropped in disbelief. Guess I must have looked a bit out of place.

Still keep in contact with some of my lifts, especially those who did the Canning last year giving me a lift the last part of the Tanami to Alice Springs. Stories from that convoy of 3 vehicles is what inspired this years adventure.
