I have a 2005 V8 and it has just clocked up 150,000kms..which as per the service book requires the timing belts to be changed.
Just wondering if anyone has done this themselves and if they changed the tensioners at the same time?
thanks in advance

Hi.I have done one about 12mths ago. Never changed the tensioner or guide pulleys as they were fine. I did change the waterpump though as there were traces of coolant. Took about 8 hours if I remember correctly. Regards,Bob.

Sorry. Been away for the weekend. If you are fairly proficient at this sort of thing it is fairly straight forward. Maybe set the engine on no1 top dead centre and take note of where the timing marks align. The new belt has white lines for alignment on it if you use a genuine belt. Lay every thing out in order of removal and fit back in reverse. Lay out bolts to the position they came from is another tip. Make sure every thing is clean. Maybe
check on the Lcool site as
well wouldn't hurt. I think the belt was around the $150 if I remember correctly. Hope that helps. Bob.

Hi yu gazza414
We had our timing belt done couple months back, i'm no mechanic when it comes to that sort of operation, so had our mechanic do the job.
Replaced timing belt, water pump, and did the 150000 service, cost a bit though.
Have tossed the account in so can't tell you how much the belt was.
Cheers
Baz
