Gidday all,

This refers to a query I had about a movement cut off switch for the fridge. Refer thread # 78001.

Not being electrically minded, can anyone supply a wiring diagram to fit a relay (electrical cable already in place with a fuse) and also where do you pick the power up in the engine bay so that it will turn itself on or off when you have the ignition on or off. Hope this makes sense.
I have a 2003 Toyota T/D Hilux duel cab and I do not have access to an auto elec.

Cheers

Greg

Hi Greg,

Why not get one of THESE?

I have had one in my last two vans and they work very well. It simply fits into the 12V lines that feed the fridge. If no movement, then it cuts the fridge power - simple.

I've seen them at camping shops and also at sveral camping and caravan shows. Around $50 all up.

Just read your previous thread #78001 and see the Fridge Switch was mentioned before. Still worth considering though. A lot easier than relays and wiring.

Greg
pick up the power to the relay from the windscreen wiper motor connections. Use a test light to find which is the active connection when the engine is running. use this connection to activate the relay.

Yep, that's what I use too. On the Toyotas there's usually 5 wires going into the wiper motor - the IGN wire is usually blue and is the middle wire in the row of 3.

There are some diagrams here that may help.
