JB, make sure it has an internal *cooling fan*
don't rely on a heat sink type to maintain temperature

Hi Snaggles some good brands would include: Yamaha, Honda, Hyundai, Subaru & Kipor. The most popular and best 2 brands regularly tend to be Yamaha and Honda. Have a look at this link to get a better view. Click here

I believe snaggles is looking at purchasing a pure sine *inverter* to be used mainly for camping and some work (small tools) and possibly not a generator?

Hi Snaggles,
we have a 500w Powertec Brand pure sine wave inverter that is now five years old and still going well. Had it fitted to a camper trailer first and now in a caravan. It's had a fair work out and been through plenty of dust and rough roads. It has an inbuilt fan. I think Jaycar sell that brand.

Cheers

JB,
I use a Cotek PSW Inverter and have never had any problems with it.

It's hard wired to the Aux AGM DC battery system, the power board is attached and has 4 individual plugs and 4 on/off switches, I can simultaneously run or charge 4 items, which saves both time and battery capacity too
