"Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series.
In 1999 the Troop Carrier became the 78 series, and the short wheelbase version was phased out in most markets. The principal mechanical changes were - coil sprung (instead of leaf sprung) live front axle, longer rear leaf springs, 5-bolt
wheels instead of 6-bolt
wheels, redesigned steering wheel, redesigned front indicators, and, in the cab-chassis, a longer wheel base which increased the rear storage capacity."

Yep, in august 1999 - the troopies changed from HZJ75 to HZJ78.
The 78series kept the same wheelbase as the 75series, but the traytops got a longer wheelbase.
From late 2001 to end of 2006, the factory turbo diesel option was available. These are the HDJ78 and are the most sought after troopie because of the great motor.
