Hi Guys, most regional centres & capital cities, have home school groups that allow the families get together for outings, educational events and general play for the kids. Education at the kinder age depends on your approach/model of learning. Longterm travel and educating the kids does have its challenges but there are a lot of families doing it, school of the air, self-directed teaching/learning, a formal or not so formal currculum, natural learning models. Some schools will allow you to send work back to them for correcting and to see what you are doing in terms of educating the kids. All states have different requirements. After a few years travelling - our kids didn't start any formal education until they were older than 6. Some families we met had never registered their kids with any recognised distance education centre - their kids were about 10yrs + with great knowledge and no obvious problems interacting or learning. Cheers.

Thankyou for your info, my daughter has started with Casino far dist ed, its hard trying to get her to sit for even an hour, she gets ants in her pants..!! I have a wonderful teacher to deal with, which is great!

I am hoping there are kids all around Aussie that want to do skype with Chloe and then they will have something in common? Thought this may help me to get her to do some school work for longer periods of the day? who knows I guess thats an idea.

Thankyou for yur information

Have a great day.

We spent almost 3 yrs travelling OZ and our girls were 3 and 6 when we left. My wife home schooled while we were on the road. If you would like you can email us at kidsandall@yahoo.com.au
My wife would be happy to have a chat about any aspect of it. I know what you mean about getting them to sit still. While sit still when there is so much to explore. The girls learnt so much home schooling on the road and a lot of it wasn't from the books. Some of their maths was done at the beach collecting shells and sharing them out or writing sums in the sand. English was reading signs or maps. geography.... well that just happened as we travelled lol. Mechanical repairs was on the side of the road with dad and Phys Ed was climbing to the top of a mountain and seeing who had sore muscles and which ones. School for us wasn't always from the book. Hope this helps and feel free to contact us and have a chat.
