My CF50 is now showing a temp that is about 6-8 degrees higher than the actual fridge temp. The first time I noticed it had frozen the milk and was about -4 inside when set to +3 (and showing +4 on the readout).
I think it has started happening after I pulled on the cord a bit hard when it was caught on the fridge slide. Perhaps this has dislodged something inside the control unit. The compressor still works fine and I can probably just set the temp to a higher value (although it also now seems to fluctuate more) but it is a bit annoying and I'd like to fix if simple (and inexpensive!).
Anyone seen this before?

hi chisel
i dont own a waeco because i'm an engel man
but do the waeco's have a digital temp gauge powered by oxide batteries
just a thought but it could be the oxide batteries starting to die causing incorrect readings
how long since you changed them if it does have batteries
on the engels they only last about 1 yr
hope this may be of some help
cheers from an engel man lol

OK. You didn't accidentally knock the override switch to on did you? Down where the plug plug in.
Also what happens is the temp sender which is attached to the body of the fridge at the compressor end has most likely fallen off. So now the temp is much higher than it thinks and keeps running. You can pull these apart and reattach it, you see the glue stuff blob where it was meant to be attached so I hear. I have While I have taken
mine apart to clean the fan etc I haven't ever thought to look at that.
If your not keen I'd say it is not a real expensive fix for the
shop to do.

No - the override switch is still off. Compressor still cuts in and out, just at lower temp (inside) than it should.
Thanks for the tip - exactly what I was after. I'll take it apart and take a look.

Took the outer case off and couldn't see where the temp sender might be anywhere near the compressor - and it didn't look particularly easy to disassemble further so rather than risk any damage I'll just take it to the
shop.

Hey Chisel - finally got myself joined up so I could reply.
First ? - Is your fridge more than 3 Yr old? It has a 3 Yr Warranty on it.
@nd - Yeah it is a thermostat prob. It lives down underneath the dairy compartment in the compressor area. Not a fridge mechanic but had the same problem and they fixed it under warranty. Apparently it is a common prob with WAECO's. Still great fridges though....
Sorry can't offer any more than that
Cheers
Sterls

Unfortunately it was bought at a factory sale and only has a one year warranty. I spoke to someone at waeco who suggested it was a thermostat ... but wasn't too helpful with fixing it outside warranty. I guess I'll take it to a service agent if I can't fix it myself.
