Evening all
Just planning a trip to central Australia which will clash with the NT three week school holiday break in June/July. Has anyone visited
Alice Springs, Uluru and the MacDonald ranges during this period and can comment on how busy and crowded the major attractions and caravan parks are likely to be. Would we have to book all the CP's in advance, as this detracts from the freedom of stopping where you want and when you want. I'm just trying to gauge what to expect at this time of year.
Many thanks
Jon

Gday ,
............Alice isnt that big that we go to caravan parks in town for holidays.
Most people go bush. Therefore our holidays have no reflection on caravan parks availability.
But being June makes the difference...Finke desert Race is on.
Cheers

Most locals don't go to tourist attractions in out backyards, it's a case of been there-Done that, it's all the Southerners flocking up up here like yourselves that fill our parks , which I might add is good for the Territory economy, so were not complaining about that, also the Territory is a big open place so there'll be room room for you,
In fact the Territory is big enough for Hairy to hide when another EO member tried to look him up for a Cucumber Sanga, so Jay D missed out on one last week when the races were on.

Hi Jon, we too have planned a 3 week trip to NT in June/July school holidays. Weren't going to book anywhere but have now booked everywhere that we could because alot of the caravan parks were filling up & said without a booking we might not get in. The only
places who wouldn't take bookings were Kings Canyon Resort &
Glen Helen Gorge Resort who both won't take site bookings but say they have plenty of sites available. I think you should ring/email a few
places you are planning to stay at to gauge what their prior bookings are like. Enjoy your trip, we can't wait to head off. Cheers Rachael

Hi Rachael
Thanks for your reply, we're booking a few nights at the MacDonnell range CP in Alice but the rest of the time we'll just see how we go as we want to be fairly flexible in our travels. We're heading over from Qld. sunshine coast, where are you travelling from ?

Hi Jon, we're coming up from
Melbourne, have also booked into the MacDonnell Range CP from 8 - 13th july. We have booked all our accomodation but mainly because my sister & family from WA are coming too & need cabin accomodation. Might see you there if you're around at that time. Cheers Rachael
