Hi everyone was wondering if anyone has recently travelled on the back track that goes from Beagle to the Great Northern Highway.

Last I heard (a while back) it was better than the main road, but a bit narrow & sandy in spots, but no issue.
Cheers,

I would recommend leaving it a couple of weeks as it is raining steadily here in
Broome. That country is expecting 40 - 60mm over the weekend. So it could be a bit slippery on the eastern Side

Roger,
In the dry it is a good, quite easy track a little sandy at times but otherwise OK. Have pulled camper trailers over it twice (once each way) -- no worries. But its going to rain this weekend so
check with the locals or phone the
Derby Tourist Info as they give out mud maps for the trip.

When we contacted
Derby Tourism for the mud map last year we were faxed the mud map but when I phoned them again to
check a couple of things I was told that the person who sent me the map should not have done so since the road was now no longer open to the public. I don't know if this is really true or not. We had travelled that track back in 2001 and it was a reasonable dirt track.
It would pay to
check with the
Derby Tourism to see what the situation is.
