We are planning to stay here within the next couple of weeks for a few days and would like somewhere with direct access for our tinny to
Lake Tinaroo and to be able to leave it in the water overnight. We are travelling with a caravan.
Just wondering whether anyone has stayed at Fong On Bay
campground and whether it will be suitable as I am going to pay for my permit online. Or is one of the other campgrounds also suitable?
This system of having to apply for the permit in Qld before we see the place is not really very user friendly as I am reluctant to pay for somewhere and then find we cant stay.
Hope someone can help.
Regards,
Heather

G'day Heather.
Fong On is a big area, many acres, and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Plenty of room for your tinny. There will not be many there at this time of year so you should have a reasonable choice of
camp sites. No trouble with a van.
Hopefully by the time you arrive the rain will have stopped. We are having a prolonged wet season and it is pretty sloppy on the Tablelands at the moment.
Send me a MM if you want more detail, we live in
Malanda.
Regards, David

David, Will the skiers take over fong on over the June long weekend.
I would personally go further around if I was going on the long weekend.
What do you think David.
Heather, I am very interested to know what other spots you were planning to visit while you are there. Many people who go seek out the areas that get in the magazines but there are numerous
places to go that few southerners ever hear about.

Thanks David,
I hope its dried out a bit by the end of next week as I think we will be that far north by then.
We will give it a try for a few nights to start with and hope the sun shines sometimes! Doesnt really matter if the fish are biting! We do like
places where we can stay close to the water and the tinny, and where I can walk and take photographs.
Just about to the end of an 8 day stay at
Theresa Creek dam near
Clermont and have had a fantastic time, as we do each time we come here. Such a friendly place, fishing, redclaw, campfires, perfect weather ...
We will be gone by the June long weekend but will keep those dates in mind as we will try to avoid the really popular
places over those three days.
Regards,
Heather

Fong On Bay is a lovely spot.
I wouldn't recommend to anyone to stay there on a weekend. It is a bit of a party spot for the skiers & they can realy crank it up. But during normal weekdays it is very quiet & the scenery is great.

Hi Fatso,
Every weekend or just some! I guess if they party until late I can always get up early and make lots of noise the next morning! lol
Cheers,
Heather
