Just purchased a Lenser p14 torch and can say that anyone wanting a very well made and BRIGHT light should look at the range of Lenser torches as the light output is amazing--the p14 has a beam of 300m and runs on 4 aa batteries. Have used Maglight torches for years but these Lenser torches leaves them for dead.New technology with LED sure has come a long way.

Yeah mate the Lensers are awesome. Easily outshine anything i have ever seen. Maglights dont stand a chance and are pretty pathetic compared to these. I have the P7 which is there most common light. Same light output as the P14, but smaller and supposedly lasts longer. I want the X21, the mother of all lights. But its a tad too much.

We've been using these for years for search and rescue, from the original hocus focus, and now the P7 version. Small, solid, bright, variable focusable with standard batteries make for a good package. To go from a spot to a flood fill is extremely useful which makes this torch our choice over newer torches coming onto the LED market.

They work best with NiMh batteries due to their high power draw, in fact will last longer than top quality alkalines (Duracells ultra etc)

I have a P7 myself, and yes they are a good light, but should have a Strobe option for safety reasons (breakdowns, boating etc).. I have often wondered as to the light being shone in a persons eyes if it would cause permanent blindness. With the Strobe it would also be ideal for a women at night to disorientate a Attacker. I believe some of the newer versions of Lenser have this option along with other brands such as Fenix etc.

Shining the light (with a momentary push) at an attacker at night would be enough to disorientate someone, no need for strobing to achieve this effect.

They have a laser warning symbol on the side of the torch so any eye contact should be avoided....no reason why it can't do permanent damage in my opinion.

The ONLY torches I buy from now on will be LED torches where the focus can be changed from wide to zoom - anything else is so useless by comparison.

I bought this LED Lenser Headlamp clone for $22 including shipping from Hong Kong - zoom from wide to narrow, continuous brightness adjustment, well balanced with the batteries at the back, just not waterproof.

I was using this one last night to light up a road curve sign - 0.5m high by 1.5m wide about 20 metres away. When I set it to zoom at full brightness it was painfully bright. Even at less than full brightness it was incredibly bright.

The wide angle, lowest brightness setting is great for reading without totally ruining night vision. Even illumination from wide to zoom.

Not having used dealextreme before Mike, is it easy to order and arrange postage (like many HK sellers)? Anything that i need to be aware of with their ordering process?

Might try out the headlamp for that price. :)

Once you place more than $16 of items in the Shopping Basket it automatically adds free Tracked Shipping.

If you're paying by Paypal, it's a breeze to finalise the order.

Occasionally items are slow to come in and you could be waiting a while, but lately most items have been shipped in a week.

The greatest thing about DealExtreme is the User comments about each product. If a user criticises the product, the comment is NOT deleted (unlike the censorship here which drove me to terminate my membership).

Hi Mike

I ordered this torch from DX as few days ago.

ROMISEN RC-P3 CREE Side Switch 1-Mode LED Flashlight (2xAA)

Worth it to see if is does what i want. We have had so many expensive torches and portable spot lights that work well for a while, then go downhill.

Hi Andrew

DealExtreme is freight free, but be aware prices are in US $s. As aforesaid, easy to pay using Paypal, and you get a tracking number. Around Christmas time last year, Hong Kong post was very slow. DX had a notation on their website. They delivered the package to HK Post, and it sat there for over two weeks before leaving, after which it got here very quickly.

I ordered the torch on Thursday and received advice it was sent on Saturday.

The only thing to watch out for is if something is not supplied and goes on back order. You need to keep onto them to get a credit if the goods prove unavailable.

Have a similar P7 that takes 4 AAA batteries. A bloke at work has a P14.

Mine was in use last weekend at a bush bonfire and BBQ. It was borrowed a lot. Everyone who used it was impressed. I liked that they could all use it without hassles. (I have had other torches twisted apart before because someone thought that was how you did it. Maglite owners might relate to this)

I find the dimmer setting and beam adjustment very good and that it is a pocketable size.

Have heard of one P7 that died. Major impact with a concrete structure at high speed. Have yet to get the details. The owner got a P14 to replace it.

Yep, I'll go along with all the positive comments above.
Personally have a P14, Tactical, 2 headlights, and just got an M1. The M1 is a little humdinger..It's as big as your forefinger with an output almost as good as the P14 and sits comfortably on a small belt pouch..hardly noticeable. I'ts now my choice of torch for general camp useage and the larger P14 remains in the car. The M1 is small enough to use as a bedside torch also. The only downside is being smaller with high output the battery doesn't last as long as the P14...still would have 6-8 hours tho.
