Hi All,

Just a quick update on roads for 4WD private vehicles,

Weipa and Batavia Downs all open
Cape Trib through to Wujal wujal open
North to the Cape is all good, we did not bother with the OTL although some are getting through with no worries, some have not been so lucky.
All in all the roads are fantastic, just be careful with the dips, some are still nasty.

Cheers

Thanks for the update Doddgey.

How would you rate the volume of traffic at the moment.

Did you see any breakdowns?

Many caravan being taken to the Cape? recognise any brands?

Was people speeding on the gravel a problem, ie windscreen breakage

thanks Carl

Hi Carl,
Sorry about the delay, been out of range.
Next to nothing heading up but a fair few travelling now, did not see any breakdowns at all, very few caravans, and speeding not a problem.
Cheers

Please can we aks people to post road condition update into the "interactive feedback" section of the specific track section in the specific page of the road condition reports - this helps people who are specifically searching for road conditions on an area find this info - many people do not read the forum, and it really gets lost in here, and such a shame.
Thanks by the way for your report!

Sorry but I never read anything other than the forum, so I'm just one who is thankful the road report is here as I will be up there mid/late June, so it's of vital interest and I look forward to more reports closer to the date.

There are many reports on road conditions on the forum I would have thought they also would have recieved the same 'message' making it more common knowledge for those who seek this information.

So looks like I will have to look there as well, maybe there should be a list on the side relevant to what NEW information is posted and available in the 'hidden' areas not visited? (by myself anyway)

CREB TrackClosedCairns Regional Council has advised that, as of 23rd December 2009, the CREB Track is closed for the wet season..
They request when traversing this track, please place your wheels outside the existing wheel ruts and/or beside the previous vehicles wheel tracks. The hope is to evenly spread the wear and tear on the track and reduce maintenence.
