Hi I have a 100 series cruiser which has 2 cranking batterires and an auxillary which is manage by a RedArc (Excuse spelling) which obviously isolates the cranking batteries from the Auxilary. My question is I,m looking to put a second Auxillary Battery in so can I still use the same isolator switch. I know the two auxillaries will not be isolated from each other if I do this.

Appreciate comments

Perfect, no problem, just use heavy cable and fuses / breakers as I assume the 4th battery will be in the rear.

Hi Derek,
You used to have an isolator that allowed 3 batts to be charged independently but i can't see it on your website, it had 3 post for each of the batteries, do you still sell these?. I have two batts in the 4wd & will soon be buying a camper trailer with its own deep cycle so was looking for a 3-way isolator.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark

We no longer deal with that factory sorry, no longer available.

There is a similar device from LEAB if that is what you want.

I can tell you what I'd do, which might be different to what many others would do.

I'm assuming you have the TD with dual cranking batteries behind the headlights, and that your 3rd battery is one of the slightly undersized trays that fit to the passenger's side of the engine bay.

I'd use a single N70 size cranking battery - the passenger's side is what most people use - your vehicle will start fine with the single cranking battery. Then use identical brand/type N70 and N50 auxillary batteries. Use your isolator to isolate the two auxillaries from the single cranking battery.

As far as what batteries, I prefer to use the wet cell "hybrid" like Exide Extreme or Century Overlander - they survive well under the bonnet.

rare,

No major problem paralleling two identical auxiliary batteries, use heavy cable 2B&S (32mm²) or similar to avoid voltage drop between the batteries, place fuses adjacent to each battery on the (+) cable.
