Hi Guys,

Has anyone got any recommendations for camper trailer insurance? we recently ordered the Ultimate camper so are looking for an insurance policy that covers both on & off road use. Total cover would be around 50k.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,
If you are a member of a 4WDrive club that is affilliated with a State 4WDrive Association (You wil find them on the web i.e 4WDWA, NT, SA etc) TCIS which is 4WDrive -Australia's preferred insurer can insure your vehicle, camper boat or whatever. In relation to 4wheel driving it doesn't matter where you are driving, gazetted roads ungazetted tracks, off track your vehicle etc is covered and that is anywhere in Oz.
Cheers,
Nugget

Hi Mark,
We have an Ultimate too and we have our policy with Caravaners Complete Insurance. Cover for $38000 at a cost of about $500.00
It seems a good policy but we haven't had to use it yet.
Do you know what number your new camper is? We are number 334 and have found it really great. I'm sure you'll have some wonderful times in yours too.
Cheers,
Neil

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the info. We have not been given a number as yet but I thought i'd read somewhere they are up in the 900's now. We only ordered 2 weeks ago & should take delivery in late October.
We just got some paperwork today regarding wheel matching, brake controllers, battery charging etc, looks like I have a bit of work to do on the Disco. Did you match the wheels with your tow vehicle?
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,
Yes we matched our wheels, we have a 60 series Toyota and when we travel we use split rims all round. Matching the wheels is good because you automatically have two spares. We have a Tekonsha brake controller and that has been really good.
Good luck with your planning.
Cheers

I tried TCIS but GIO actually came out on top - cheaper and included more cover for personal items as well.
