we just bought an nm pajero exceed 3.5v6
i picked it up friday afternoon after having injected lpg fitted and thought i would give it a run this weekend
i filled it up saturday arvo and headed over to
halls gap.
were in
bendigo so its nearly spot on 200ks.
sat on 100 and drove beautifull its pretty hilly getting there and once there we drove to the top of one of the mountains.
20ks up the mountain pretty slow going lots of twists and turns so it wasnt driven for economy.then drove home with a few more stops inbetween.
i ran it on gas till it ran out at 447ks.switched to petrol and drove to the servo.
filled it up and it took 66.7 litres.so i worked it out to be just under 15ltrs per 100 ks.im very happy with the results.next test will be with the van on and see how it goes.i havnt had it long enough to see how the petrol economy is.i dont think it will be much better than 15 ltr per 100ks.
cheers

Hi Numberone,
I have had 3 gas powered vehicles over the last 18 years and I am wrapped in them though none have been injected. All have been vapour into the manifold.
The economy of the systems is not brilliant, speaking of kilometers per liter but when you take into account the price of LPG its a no brainer as far as kilometers per dollar goes. Towing I found made little or no difference to performance on gas
as opposed to petrol the difference was about the same either way, meaning there was a very slight loss of performance on gas but more than made up for in the cheaper price per liter.
I found that it was best to tune the engine more toward gas as that was what I was using nearly all the time and petrol was only used if it was too far to the next gas filler.
Current unit is a turbo diesel also running on gas and although it goes brilliantly I still prefer the petrol gas version which my previous landcruiser was. Diesel is noisy and smelly and covers the van with soot on long runs. And I have yet to fill the beggar without getting diesel on my hands.
Once again congrats an a good decision. Duel fuel is also the only answer as you have your backside covered, so to speak.
Cheers, Bruce.

Hi
You should be very happy with 447k's. i have the same size
tank but not injected lpg and the best I can achieve is about 400k from the
tank. It will be interesting to see your results with the van.
regards Kc

I have a 90 Prado w/ a 62lt usable gas
tank and only get about 270k in the city and maybe 350k on country roads, runs very
well but not really happy with the fuel economy and the fittings.

hi JS
interesting, i have a 72lt usable gas
tank in my 90 prado and i get around 330k in city. i also not so happy with economy rate on gas, but recently decided to do a $ comparison LPG v Unleaded. So ran a
tank thru of each did the maths of $ and km and litres used - cant find where i put it right now - and i was really surprised how much i am saving in $ by using the lpg - so will now try stop whinging about my economy rate on gas. (worth the exercise even if its only to satisfy yourself its all worth it) i have been taking
mine back to my lpg mechanic for regular tunes saying my economy not up to scratch and him doing his best to keep me happy without losing power too.
also - have you had any issues with backfire? i did - even blew up the air box twice - but finally solved it with different plugs and leads. Just now need to solve the radio static since changing plugs. cheers mick ....
ps - been told many times
mine is 72 litre usable but most i ever got in it is 69.5 litres

thanks for that.
no problem w/ backfiring, however unable to start with cold motor.
not happy with the whole fitting. the fuel cap sits on the lefthand side of the pumper bar??!!
performance wise really happy, could not feel any difference.

Mine is also on injected LPG. Has been for about 3 yrs. 447Ks is brilliant. When we first did ours we use to get about 350 on average, no real difference city v highway. I'ts due for a major service now and we'll get the gas checked at the same time as economy has dropped to about 300K/
tank... not good..
Petrol gets about 17LT/100ks.
