hello. i am looking for a used campervan. i want a shower and toilet in it but i see nearly all of them have a bathroom near the front of the van. is there a reason for this. is there a company who makes them with the bathroom at the back of the van.
by the way.. i am looking for a ford trader or merc sprinter type/size setup, thanks

Hi Qubert,

Did the sprinter / transit / Iveco / VW search for my motorhome and descovered many things. The are mainly used for Courier vans, ambulances, small buses. Some being for disabled people.

The last being driven with great care because of the passengers, while the first two not so much. I descovered that many councils (Kempsey currently has a great silver one) and hospitals lease these vans from, well lease companies and you can buy they once the lease is up. Mine had 185.000 k's and still in great condition. It was a 312D sprinter. Tow capacity 3500 kg. (3 for 3 ton capacity, 12 for 120 hp. This is how merc number them)

I would certainly stay away from a ford transit (do not be critical as I drive a ford at the moment) as they have a bad reputation. Merc however want your first born child as payment for repairs, so try to do most things yourself. It is still the better option.

Manual and Auto are good but towing a van I would choose manual but not a "sprint shift" on the 313 /413 models (2001 -2003) as this had many problems. There are 81 versions of this van so getting the perfect one can be hard . I had a high roof and the longest length. It was fantastic and great to drive. The auto was 2800rpm at 100 which is too high. 2000 rpm at 100 is better. Good luck

Hi Quebert.
Do you know anyone who is a member of the CMCA.?
In the May issue of the Wanderer, there are 8 pages of used campervans/motor homes for sale.

Cheers.
Vince
